The Big Night for our Apprentices is drawing ever nearer – and we are delighted to announce that a Guest Speaker has been booked for the Awards event, to be held at the Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel, Sandford-on-Thames, on Thursday 6 March.
Geoff Foulkes - son of Bill Foulkes, the former Manchester United footballer who survived the Munich Air Disaster and was one of the original Busby Babes – should entertain young and not quite so young alike with memories of his father’s glittering career.
Sadly, Bill Foulkes died last year, but Geoff – a confident and enthusiastic speaker – will bring with him video clips and other mementos from his father’s Old Trafford days.
As for the business end of the Group’s eagerly awaited Apprentice of the Year Awards Evening, we are pleased to say that there has been a strong response from Member companies resulting in a good spread of candidates across the three categories (NVQ Level 3, NVQ Level 2 and Merit Award).
Nominations have now closed, and the adjudication process is under way, but those to have put forward apprentices include: ACE Training, City of Oxford College, Boshers (Cholsey) Limited, BHL Builders (Oxford) Limited, Maylarch Environmental Limited, Kingerlee Limited, Stuart Barr CDR Limited and SYMM & Co Limited.
Winners will be announced on the night while it is hoped that all the Group’s first year apprentices can be present in order for us to formally recognise their joining the industry.
