It’s coming back – and with your help, support and encouragement we hope to make the Group’s Apprentice of the Year Awards Evening better than ever.
As first mentioned a couple of months ago in the launch edition of our ‘infocus’ newsletter, Thursday 6 March has been set aside for an event to be held at The Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel, Sandford-on-Thames.
Nominations are now open and Members are invited to submit the names of candidates in the following categories:
• NVQ Level 3
• NVQ Level 2
• Merit Award (criteria attached)
The Awards are designed to recognise achievement during the Academic Year ending 2013 – and the date has been chosen to coincide with National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from 3-7 March.
As this is the Group’s ‘flagship’ event – and because of the time that has elapsed since our last Awards Evening – we are also keen to ensure that apprentice achievement between September 2010 and July 2012 does not go unrewarded.
So if you have a deserving candidate from that period then please let us know as soon as possible because we will find a way to honour them, even if means producing a new Award for the occasion.
Whatever the category, though, we need Members to act quickly to set the process in motion. And here’s the timetable:
*Nomination deadline – 5.00pm Wednesday 5 February
*Adjudication process – w/c 10 February
*Invitations to all Member company Apprentices, including those in their 1st year – w/c 17 February
As for the event itself, that will be held in The Conservatory at the Four Pillars Hotel, starting 6.45pm and proceeding as follows:
• Registrations (tea/coffee/juice/cash bar)
• Welcome from The Group’s Chairman (7.30pm)
• Guest Speaker (to be announced)
• Present CAS Agreements to all 1st Year Apprentices (who joined in the September of 2013)
• Announce Nominees (Citations) and then the Winners, plus make individual presentations
• Closing remarks and retire to complimentary buffet supper, plus cash bar (8.45pm)
As in previously years, there will be meaningful press coverage, which the CITB’s dedicated PR Agency facilitates. To this end, we are keen to hear from those who would like to part-sponsor the event and place a promotional stand at a strategic point at the venue; in keeping with past years, a standard/nominal fee of £150.00 + VAT would apply.
