Members invited to sign up for Level 2 Certificate

Members are being given a heavily subsidised opportunity to obtain a valuable Qualification for their hand-picked employees - and to play an important role in the further development of the Group’s EcoBuilder business.

With the new Level 2 Certificate in Sustainable Construction written and ready to be put to the test in the form of a Pilot project, OCTG member companies have been invited to nominate members of staff they believe would benefit from sampling the product from induction through to final recognition.

Level 2 embraces the latest environmental practices and techniques in construction subjects such as energy efficiencies, water use, waste management and airtight technology (see below for the Qualification framework and structure in full detail).

The Pilot is to begin with a group induction day, in Oxford, on 30 January and end, four weeks later, with a group and individual assessment/verification on 27 February.

Between those dates, learning will be web-based and suitably punctuated with specific reference reading. And although the number of Guided Learning Hours for each Unit is published to give an idea of the study time involved, each individual can learn at his or her own speed – with readily accessible, on-going technical support available throughout.

The reward for successful completion of the knowledge-based Pilot will be a fully accredited, certificated Qualification and an EcoBuilder Green Practitioner Card. In addition, the achievement should attract CITB Grant.

With 20 places being available, it is anticipated there should be a good spread across the Group. Although there are no preconditions, ideally candidates should be working on site and in a related construction trade.

As for cost (covering Registration, Practitioner Card, Internal Quality Assurance, Assessment, Certification, group facilitation and accommodation/refreshments for induction and assessment), the proposed, subsidised charge to Members is circa £100 plus VAT/Registration).
